Gravel bike, GRX chain rotation..

I tend to not rotate chains, usually letting whole drivetrain wear together, then replace, however with current pricing of components I’m thinking about replacing chain only.

setup is 1x11 GRX, with a HG601 chain. The chain checker drops in at 0.5mm and it’s nowhere near the 0.75mm wear. Will a swop to new chain prolong life of ring and cassette, or is it going to be prone to some jumping and not running as smoothly ?

with it being 1x I guess the front ring will be as worn as the chain..?

I didn't rotate my chain on my current GRX, but swapped it when it started to run noisy at around 7500km.  It took a new chain but took a few rides to bed/gel properly with the worn cassette/chainring. The new chain has now done around 8000km maybe a little more and I'm going to do the cassette, chain, chainrings and jockey wheels this time.  I think it's done well.  It might again take a new chain, but I doubt it.

At 0.5 you can change the chain and all else will be fine. You could run it a little longer and still be fine, but you risk needing to change the cassette. Even 1x I would expect the chainring to last longer than the cassette.
