Thinking of a set of these. Usually wear a 44, how do the fiziks size up, smaller, larger?

pretty bloody weird fit for me

too narrow and too long size for size

I usually wear Spesh shoes in the same size as my 'normal' footwear and bought some clearance R1's, I did 200km in them before accepting they didnt fit me and then flogged on ebay at a loss - at the time it was a buyers market for R1's with dozens for sale which may tell you all you need to know

Sizing is about bang on, although if you have wide feet you may find them too narrow. Sizing is pretty similar to Giro I'd say.

I found them a bit big, went for same size as spesh and should have gone a size smaller.

Yeh, I ride spesh just now and ride a 44. Looking at a set off 44 fiziks, so possibly a bit big..

Wear a size 44 sidi. 44 in R1's feels too big to me.
As opp above I did a few rides in them and accepted they were too big.

If you are anywhere near Stafford/Burton you can try them on and have them for 80 quid if they fit. I would suggest trying before you buy anyway.

I'm a 47 fizik and a spesh 46. They also end up quite generous at the laces/top. I put an extra insole in which sorted it. They are not worth the RRP but great shoes with the current discounts

Sizing good but they have a really high arch that I just can't get on with. Gave me chronic foot pain because of it so I had to sell them. Just wish I could of got on with them as were really well made and comfy

44 were too big and too wide for my D width feet. They fit Teen1 though, so not all bad. I kept the insoles. I'm a 44 Sidi, Specialised and Shimano, but struggle to find shoes narrow enough! Definitely try if you can. They are lovely shoes.

TiRed, try some Mavics. Zxelliums are currently on sale for about £120 at some spots. I bought some last week. Very narrow fit, narrower than Sidis. Also, light and stiff I'd iamgine. Too small fitting for m e though so I sent them back, plus the cleat holes are really far forward.

Bigger than Shimano sizing - I usually use a 44 Shimano but I'm on 43 in the Fizik and they're still a tiny bit too spacious around the toes. The smaller size was too short for my feet.

AND:

they have a really high arch
Agree- It feels very weird although I've done centuries with comfy feet so it's obviously not a problem for me.

I only bought them because they were heavily reduced at Planet-X. I wouldn't have paid anything near full price for them because the fit is a bit weird, at least for my feet. Saying that, they are beautifully made.

I'm a 42 in normal shoes / trainers and 42 in Fizik shoes, I have two pairs and have ridden thousands of k in them.

Shimano I'm a 43, Sidi I'm a 43.5

Too narrow/long for me (but I find shimano road shoes narrow too). Beautiffuly made though which made stomaching the loss when I sold them after 3 rides even worse 🙁

Be aware the size numbering is bizzare, no idea which system they used, but it didn't translate very well, my first pair was a '10', my 2nd pair was also a '10' but much much bigger. So go into a shop and try them on.
