My wife has one of those elliptical cross trainers, it is Livestrong brand but not sure who really made it.
Anyway, on and off - and now on, always - the right hand crank (or more accurately, a screw head on the back of it) rubs against the plastic cover over the flywheel for about a 45 degree segment of the rotation. This obviously makes a fairly annoying scraping sound. We want to sell the damn thing but won't get much for it while it's making this noise.
Are there any cross trainer repair experts out there with tips? I pulled the crank centre cover off to see if there was a way to move the "crank line" but it isn't obvious, and I don't want to just go randomly undoing bolts.
Give it some EPO and a transfusion before use. It seems to work for several other Livestrong related sports items (allegedly)
Alternatively, can you not take a flat file to the troublesome screw and flatten it off?
Take the cover off the flywheel and trim where the screw mounts are bring the covers in tighter to the wheel and away from the arms
I had a similar issue on a cross trainer and after much striping down found that it was the axle that was shearing off on one end. Think of it as the bottom bracket shearing. I binned it.
Will try craigxxl's tip first
