I have bashed the cable stop on my XT rear mech and it has bent inwards and now fouls the parallelogram. It prevents the mech moving to the extremes of its range even with the stops wound all the way out, meaning I now only have 2-8 instead of 1-9 gears.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can bend the cable stop back into place without snapping it?
It's one of these...
Is it the mech body or the screw in barrel adjuster that's bent? LBS box of spares for adjuster, good luck if it's the body.
You mean the cable clamp? Wife managed to do the same to hers. Doesn't need to be bent in very far to foul like you said. Hers was only a smidgen out so I tweaked it back with pliers and It's been on my five ever since. If it's badly bent will probably snap off though so use some caution.
I have done the same, eased it back with a screw driver
Oops, yes of course! You mean the cable clamp?
