Looking at getting a new chainset and BB, does the plastic looking installation tool thing - circular disc with a funny shape extrusion - come with the chainset or BB when you buy them or is this something seperate you have to buy? 😕

Ta.

Depends where you buy from:
If it's 'pukka' then you'll get the tool - if it's grey/OEM you wont...

Mmm, ok, not sure if it's OEM or not, looking at getting chainset and bb seperately so think I better add one of the tools just incase, only a few £ anyway ... cheers.

you don't get the bb tool anyway so best to get the park tool which does both.

M960 chainsets came with the tool but AFAIK no other models do.

Correct, although the M970 comes with the unique removal tool, none of them include the BB spanner anymore. I wouldn't expect any of this AFAIK business from you Mister P!

...or the bottle opener bit on a swiss army knife

very little torque needed so the tool just isn't necessary
