My piece of shit garmin 810 is playing up again, and rather than give that company another penny for their useless products I’d prefer to look elsewhere
The obvious choice is a wahoo, the only issue is I currently have 6 bikes all with garmin out front mounts. I know you can get adapters so the wahoo can fit a garmin mount but do I need to buy 6 of them, or I I buy just one adapter will it be easy enough to switch between bikes?
They fit, you just have to rotate the locking mechanism 90°, I didn't need an adaptor.
Yep, reused all of my garmin mounts for my wahoo that could be rotated. Some were tighter than others so shaving a sliver off one side of a notch is enough to fix it.
My mounts aren’t official garmin ones so you can’t rotate anything
Unless you mean there is something you can rotate on the wahoo unit?
If it’s an out-front style mount you’ll need it to be one of the ones where the quarter turn piece can be unscrewed and refitted at 90 degrees. If it’s a completely fixed mount then it won’t work.
If it’s a rubber band style you just take it off and refit it, of course.
All of our various mounts have had a small screw in them that you can undo and rotate the mechanism, assumed they all do as we have various makes and models of mounts and they all still work.
As above, should be bolted in.
If it can't, you buy an adapter to go into the mount that makes it a wahoo mount.
I just rotated mine and cut a sliver off
Elemnt bolt v2 wouldn't fit a rotatable garmin mount.... oh and I wouldn't advise buying one anyway... Read the reviews!
If you can't rotate the insert, you can get 3d printed adaptors on eBay.
I expect quality varies so I'd try one or two rather than splurging on 6... Unless the postage makes it sensible to go for several.
You can buy wahoo inserts relatively cheaply. I found that rotated Garmin mounts weren't reliable enough and had a tendency to eject my wahoo.
Go to this here eBay shop and buy the appropriate adapter that will allow you to use your Wahoo of choice to your plethora of Garmin style mounts, it's what I did.
