turning right at traffic lights this morning, travelling not much fast than walking pace, bike slid out from under me. almost instantly, no warning. I was not braking.
bloke in the car in front jumped out to see if I was ok.
whilst walking back to me, he nearly fell over too.

load of petrol on the road, which was not noticeable like diesel is.

landed hard on my right knee and elbow.
big hole in elbow.

bigger hole in my ****ing waterproof jacket and leggings.

I love winter me....... ;o)

Nice :o(
Hope the elbow and knee ok.
Was grim cycling into Leeds this morning. Where were you (so I can avoid the petrol)? I cycle in from Methley so not too far from you I think.

OK. Don't tend to go that way luckily. I just went straight in on A639 then down past Arla. Wet, but no petrol/diesel.

Broke my arm a few years ago in a simiar manner.

Rolling upto a give way line, at almost a trackstand, must have been a big pool of diesel as I went from upright to the gutter in the blink of an eye.

3rd arm break in 2 years, I actually cried with the frustration!

Feel your pain Ton, we've got tram tracks here that are lethal.

It's not the wheel grabbing tram rail 'hole' thats the issue, you get used to avoiding those, it's that the metal surface that sits flush with the road is lethal when wet/cold.

3 falls over the years, 4 broken ribs, lots of holes in clothes and knees/elbows. Always hurts mostly because it happens so damn quickly!

Always made me raise an eyebrow when those in Edinbrough moan about how dangerous their trams are to cyclists as if they're special.

The cyclepath/tramway down west street caught me out quite a few times, not just the netalwork but the concrete road seemed to retain diesel from all the taxis that were also allowed on it and offered almost zero grip.
