[#12422807]

I've got a ferry to Calais booked and 3 weeks to wander round France and maybe Germany. No plan as yet but possible follow French- German border, Black Forest may be but nothing set in stone.

Normally only take a ravel bike so can always find something to ride but also taking the mountain bike this year.

Whats the easiest way to find places to ride, trail centre type places rather than big uplift bike parks.

I've had a quick look on trailforks but there doesn't seem a lot on there.

Any ideas or pointers?

cheers

Strava global heat map can work for this. The trail centre type places stand out quite clearly. I found a really nice riding spot near Metz doing this when I was staying nearby.

Freiburg in the sw of Germany is worth a short trip over the border for.

I was looking at Freiburg earlier which got me thinking of other similar places to ride.

Not massively helpful, but if you get as far as Basel, let me know, and I can hook you up with routes, and with some local folks for a ride.

https://trailguide.net   looks promising. Never know where I'll end up big_scot_nanny so thanks for the offer.

I’d consider a trail forks subscription

I’ve used Trailforks in France, Spain & Portugal with good results. Also found Wikiloc to be very useful, though more for hiking.

I’ve not found trail forks very helpful in France vs Spain where it’s great. I don’t know about the Germany /France border but around the Spain France border the number trails is tiny compared to in Spain
