I've got a Fox fender that has broken on the ring that fits around the bleeder valve on the lower leg.

I think it's polypropylene and wonder if it's repairable with a soldering iron and a zip tie as a filler rod.

Does anyone have experience of such repairs or am I better just to write it off and replace? I've got zip ties, but don't actually have a soldering iron.

Normality zip ties normal made of nylon unless you have some special ones would be the second stumbling block over not having a soldering iron.

Its a mudguard 🙂

You can get plastic welding kits.  If its an expensive part it could be worth it maybe but it sounds like a highly stressed part

I’ve used some left over carbon repair kit on a cracked fender before now. Obviously only worthwhile if you have that sort of stuff to hand, or it’s cheaper to buy a new one, probably.

I've repaired the arch liners in my Elise using a mixture of heat from a soldering iron and abs (iirc) slurry (abs offcuts mixed with acetone to it dissolves into a thick paste). Those are holding well and the process was not too difficult. There liners were the same plastic.

I used some thin Steel wire and a Soldering Iron to repair a plastic item recently. I used the Soldering Iron to heat up the plastic and then inserted pieces of the wire across the joint - much like this video.
