anywhere nice ?
It was the tenth Global Fat Bike Day today so I was determined to get out. We had some lovely, fluffy snow this morning but it turned to very wet sleet as the day went on and by the time I could get out it was like riding along an icy river. The snow improved up around Glenmore but it was very wet again on the way back. With temperatures plummeting I could actually feel it slowly icing up as I descended to Aviemore and I was glad to get home before it finally froze solid.
I've just seen a video of Cairngorm MRT rescuing a walker after he was caught in an avalanche in one of the coires. With the wet snow we have, I'm not surprised that a few avalanches have been reported.
I nearly finished a lap of the verderers trail in the FoD, until landing a little jump (on countdown, if anyone knows it) and snapping the pedal right out of my carbon cranks.
Bit sore all down my left side this evening, with my elbow strapped up... 😔
The horrible sleet turned into nice snow for about an hour so I went out for a wee ride, then it turned back into horrible sleet so I gave up. Just moved and still getting to know the area so it's nice just trundling around, finding my way and checking out all the wee bits of woods

Going out today instead. Yesterday was a complete blow out of wet heavy snow and torrential rain / sleet. Would have been wet through in 500 m.
Yep, couldn't get out during the day because of work so went afterwards in the dark. Did a nice loop in the forest around Oslo - nice hard packed snow on the roads and some softer stuff in the trails. Didn't meet any other fatbikers, but saw plenty of Jumbo Jim tracks which made me feel happy. Despite having a fatbike for a 4+ years this is the first time I've actually gone out on the official day!
Sadly not, there was a group ride going out near mine, but my wife is working away this weekend and parenting took precedence
Yup. Out today. Rode along the riverbank at Pitlochry to Killiekrankie then did the Loch Bhac circuit. It was glorious. Blue skies but chilly. Great day to be out.
Cheers

i had plans to lead a ride out of Reeth, which i had to cancel due to health stuff.
so me and a mate went to Sherwood pines, which i last rode in a karrimoor race in the late 80's.
i have to say it was bloody ace. only managed 8 miles, but it was ace.
