It wouldn't take much of a turn to find out.
Although have to say my Mukluk rides really well with a pair of 29er rims laced onto Fatsno hubs. Means when I go on campervan holidays 1 bike can be used for both beach/off road and for long road rides as well 8)

This is why i went for 47mm rims , can still stick on normal tires when i want,
interesting, but he misses the point
if you were going to go touring on a fat bike, you prob wouldnt do it on one with 100mm rims
you would be best using 65mm rim like marge lite, they will run his 4.8 tyres, and then use a 2,5 maxxis hookworm or similar
ive done coast to coast on hookworms on 65mm rims on a pugsley

I'd be afraid of a rock, pothole, or something else denting or otherwise damaging the exposed fat rim that is sticking out in the open...

He's a lateral thinker certainly - plenty of stuff out there of what he has done before on all sorts of bikes. I think he is touting himself for the position of cycling's senior eccentric vacated some time ago by the sadly departed Mr S Brown.
