Looking to get some fastish (for 28c) road tyres to stick on the cross bike and wondered what the STW thoughts were? Looked at schwalbe duranos but anything else worth considering? Cheers

Conti GP4 Seasons come in 28c I think. I use the 25c version and think they're great.

I really like Conti Grand Prix 4 Seasons. Mine are 25c but they roll and grip well and are hardly worn after a couple of thousand miles.

Schwalbe durano plus on my steel road bike. They come up large, 25c measure close to 28mm! About 380g but very reliable and strong.

ive used conti gatorskins, good grip, zero punctures in about 1,000 miles, barely worn in that time either.
mine were 25s, but otherwise the same afaik.
i even got a huge cut on the side of the rear, with the corresponding bulge, but still stayed up and let me get home.

Cheers gents. Looking at 28c as they are going on mavic a317 rims and I heard some where down the line that to get a good seat on the bead that would be the size to aim for. Anyone experience of running a similar set up?
