Morning folks,

I bought a new bike in May this year which came with a pair of the above forks. 32's and 120mm travel to be precise. I've noticed that the rebound adjustment (bottom of driveside lower) does almost nothing to the speed of the rebound.

Its either super fast or fast fast. Even on the slowest setting its still like a pogo stick. There is a very, very small difference between the two extremes on the dial.

Now can anyone else with these forks confirm that mine are buggered? I dont know if I should contact the shop just yet for a warranty repair or not as I dont know if its just me... They have been like this since day one but I never really thought much of it.

Warranty job or just ride it?

There is a recall on some Fox Float forks, worth a check: http://www.ridefox.com/content.php?c=recall

nothing to do with the recall - the fault has only occurred on 1 fork AFAIK.

Sounds like there is a problem with rebound, return to the shop for them to deal with is the standard way of getting things sorted.

How did you manage for so long anyway?

Should also have been spotted buy whoever assembled the bike.

I guess I was just desperate to ride my bike when I first got it. Now the weather has turned a tad shite I dont mind sending it back to the shop (its an 80 mile round trip which is a pain in the arse). I'll give them a call at lunch.

The problem you have is unfortunately you bought 2013 CTD forks. I did too. Worst fox forks by far. Mine are back at fox getting the talas cart repaired. Not that will do anything to improve the rubbish compression dampening!

I've done a little more research online about the 2013 CTD damper and it seems to be just quite poor in general. Does anyone know how I go about upgrading it to the 2014 CTD damper (supposed to be a lot better).

I found the 2013 32 evo floats 150 to be ridiculous on friends bike but my 2013 ctd talas 150 with remote is lovely and progressive maybe it has more of the oil in which holds the fork up better?

The Trail Adjust makes a difference, also a service (you should have done a couple by now) should confirm you have the right oil volumes in the right places.

I serviced the forks a few months ago so they have the correct amount of oil in them. I'll see what the bike shop say, worst case I'll start looking at some sort of damper upgrade

see what happens with the warranty first, it might be replaced with 2014.

Changing the oil volumes can change the damping characteristics too.

Mojo will upgrade to the 2014 damper cartridge. It's around £50 IIRC.

I think I remember bikeradar saying they added a bit more oil than standard and it helped to improve the fork blowing through its travel so quickly.

Mojo swapped the cart in mine for the 2014 ( free btw) and the rebound is still poor. Mines set as fast as it will go.

Well i've spoken to the bike shop and it sounds like they are aware of this issue. I'm taking the bike back to them this weekend where they have confirmed they will sort it under warranty.

So in the last 2 months i've had a new frame on warranty (original one cracked), the reverb packed in so managed to get a new one of them on warranty too and now the forks. I've practically got a new bike! The only original parts are the moment is the drivetrain!

If they're covered by warranty send them to Mojo - I did with mine, they tested them and made a few fine adjustments, changed the fork feel completely.

I did end up selling them though as CTD is just an awful system.

Change of plan. Forks now going to Mojo. Postage is only £7.50 compared to x2 100 mile round trips to the bike shop. Spoke to a nice lady at Mojo who said they would be happy to sort them for me for the cost of postage to them.

Out of curiosity, what would be a decent upgrade/alternative from these forks?

Ive used boxxers with the boxxer (obv) cart and they are pretty damn good. It's what mine will get when I finally get them back.
