Hi i have just booked a family holiday to tignes in the alps ,trouble is I can't decide whether to take my bike (sc 5010) or just hire a specialised status for the week.I would want to hire a bigger bike for at least one day even if I take my own ,is the 5010 going to be out of its depth on most of the trails ? I tend to ride it on anything in the UK and absolutely love it.
The trails in Tignes are pretty smooth in my experience. I was fine on my 5010, but if you want to be doing the big jumps then you might want something squishier. I guess it depends on what you like to ride.
The 5010 will be fine for all the non-bikepark trails except perhaps the most jumpy (but most of us don't ride those anyway). You might want to fit some bigger (tougher) tyres and do you have 180 rotor on front/back ? IMO its best to be on a bike your comfortable with. Renting a DH bike is great fun for a day for the bike park trails, remember the front/rear brake lever is switched.
Thanks for the reply.yes I have 180 rotors front and back ,that is sort of what I was thinking I would rather be confident on a bike with less travel than have loads of travel but not be comfortable/confident
Many thanks
Jer
