Alongside an Enduro as a helment light and on the commuter as an alternative to the Enduro.

You'll have your own opinion about build quality, guarantee, nice package etc. vs cost. I looked at the 'cheap' DX torches and plumped for the new Joystick because it uses the same bar mount /charger etc and has the same UK back-up and guarantee. Ok you pay a premium for that..

I use one as a helmet light with a maxx-d on the bars. It's perfect for me, great build quality, no wires, excellent beam. It's obviously more expensive than the torch option but it's way better imho

i use a joystick with an original max d & its pointless.

yes you can see the odd little bit here & there when you turn your head but it makes no difference as the max-d overpowers it .

now 2 on the lid might make a difference but i have found my mates dx 900lumen fixes nicely to my giro lid now for £50.00 thats impressive .

anyone wnat a cheap joystick

I use a mk4 on the helmet with nothing on the bars.

Crazy, I know.

Just got a six pack, you dont need the joystick as the spread and power is just amazing. But £405! for the pleasure

agree with what others have said.

i am running a joystick with an enduro on the bars and feel they work well together. If i was to replace the bar light with a maxx-d then the joystick would be useless.

had my enduro and joystick for 3 years and not had any trouble with them.

hmmm interesting! i run a maxx daddy 960 and although its plenty powerful some of the stuff we do up peaks in pitch black ive always thought it would be good to have a light on the lid that goes where your head goes as well, dont get me wrong id prefer the maxx daddy and nothing than just the joystick but thought the two together would be a great compliment, afterall the six pack is 1400 lumens, and the maxx daddy 960lumens along with the joystick mk 5 of 300 gives you 1260 lumens, thus not far off the new newest six pack....

also little things like on the road i would just use the helmet lid flashing (as its not as bliding as the maxx daddy on the road) etc....and also they both have the same burn time on full whack so id always have the same out of lumen output of 1260 on full for 3hrs over!

i suppose it is a bit overpriced but its a lovely little bit of kit, also its mega mega mega tiny and lightweight compared to a dx torch, and the light spread/colour is much more focused better.....

the only thing with bar mounted is the light moves with your bars and with the helmet you get to span out your view further left or right when riding where as the bar lights are always in the one position your bike is going, so i thought it would be a decent addition to look abit further ahead/left/right with one....

anyone else running the maxx daddy 960 and joystick care to share?

I run a new betty on the bars and when on tight twisty singletrack especially in the trees, the joystick on the helmet just gives you that extra vision when you have to look in a direction other than your bars are pointing.

that was my thinking with it too, alot of techy rooty twisty tracks lie ahead, sometimes im often looking side to side to see whats around what branches etc are poking out and even on the floor etc where the light on the bar doesnt always get much light on...

I've also got an Enduro Maxx, but am running it with the original joystick, which is useless! I'm convinced I've got a duffer as there's no way they could charge over £100 for something so lame, or have times just moved on?!

Anyway, I'm considering getting the new Diablo to run alongside the Enduro, which should give me around 1600 lumens at full tilt - albiet for only just over an hour. it's much cheaper than a new Six pack though.

1. Until you try to ride a sharp switchback and can't see round it.

2. Having two lights seems to improve depth perception - with just one, it's sometimes hard to work out what's a shadow and what's a two-foot step sometimes.

Diablo with a Piggyback on your head is astonishingly good, but also expensive.

+1 BWD

having the above 2 products and testing the joystick 300 lumen along side it for the first time i can say its a welcome addition

great point about the depth, it definitely adds a heck of depth to an all ready powerful light on the bars, great itensity, and also looking ahead either side of you whats ahead is a massive bonus, you also are able to see anything directly below your handlebar lights, little stumps etc etc by facing downwards something your bars cannot do!

all in all its an expensive addition when you can get a torch from china, but they are too heavy for me and i love the fact i can run everything for 3 hours on full power without worrying about a single thing!

Agree with that. At the moment, I'm finding that is an issue even with the MaXx D Mk3 which I bought a few weeks back. Although it's a great light.

its a given that no matter how much power you have on your lights on the bar, a helmet light is ALWAYS going to be a great addition, simply as the bars could be pointing straight ahead and you may well start to manouvere your body to the left/right sharply/quickly as above on tight situations before your bars have even moved, this is what i found was a great little bit of extra help

and to boot as said above, those extra 300 lumens focusing in on the 960 i have almost makes it seem like double the depth/clarity when the helmet lights light beam is on top of the maxx daddys!

chuffed!

and the joystick is a much clearer light than the 900 lumen dx torch i have, that has a spot right in the middle that sends me a bit do-lally when it was in the middle of the maxx daddys light, where as the joystick is just an even spread (probably not quite as bright though), but the colours and beam pattern are far superior in every way possible....

if your after a cheap bargain light for the lid get a dx torch (though i have dropped mine and it wasnt even dropped on concrete and it no longer works 🙁 only 3 weeks old, so either mine was a crap friday afternoon job, or they are not very drop proof even on a carpet 🙁

if you have a bit of spare cash and want a good complete set then the joystick is cracking along side any exposure light on the bar....

i actually ran the joystick on full power on mega pitch black twisty singletrack last night with just that on and it was pretty good on itself ie if it was all i had it would be enough for ridign at night, stuck the maxx daddy on and it blew me away, great combo! the sheer power of the two is immense!

Hi guys, looking at getting a Joystick to replace a Fenix torch that's a couple of years old. Can I use the TwoFish Lockblock ( http://thephotonshop.co.uk/page64.htm) to mount it to a helmet or is the proper mount better?

Cheers,

Alex

i should imagine that mount would be fine, however id just get the joystick proper one, its mega sturdy doesnt budge in the slightest and you can adjust it on the move, perfect!
