A freehub/wheel (with no drive when pedalling) come through the FTR workshop today, and it's the first time I seen one! very strange bit of a cross between a freewheel and a cassette!
Wheel from a Raleigh Montage, Reynolds 501 tubing, with old school Suntour XCT gears. real old school as hub/frame spacing is 130mm.

I had one vaguely like that on my old Falcon Grand Prix, was so old it was completely seized, no amount of peg spanner / mallet / oil would shift it -- stayed on until wheel died and I broke the bike up for parts. was about c. 1984 vintage? was some kind of Regina 6 speed - Ultra 6 I think it was called) freewheel with threaded cassette (I don't know as I could never dismantle it..

Amazing, not seen one of those for about 20yrs, and have just taken in a bike equipped with one for some repairs too.

Ah, the heady days of stripping blocks with nowt but a hammer and screwdriver, only to watch as about 20 of the 2 million tiny tiny ball bearings disappeared into a gap in my dads workbench.

Informative days indeed ๐Ÿ˜€
