MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Has anyone found a way of working around the minimum order value shipping products to the UK from the EU?
I want to order a specific mudguard that fits my fork and its out of stock in almost everywhere, the nearest place is r2-bike in Germany.
Its a very basic item costing around €35 but when I try to place my order it ads a €130 shipping charge!
I contacted r2-bike and they stated their normally delivery charge would be €7.95 but as my order is less than the minimum they stipulate (€160) due to our VAT the system bumps up the P&P to make up the difference which sounds ridiculous.
It sounds like it would be cheaper to ship me to Germany via Ryanair and pick up the item in person rather than popping it in an envelope!

It is, but that's how r2bike are dealing with it.
The simple solution is to buy from somewhere else that doesn't*, it's not a problem you need to "work around".
Otherwise find a pen pal?
*or just use a generic mud guard, it's not as though there aren't plenty to choose from unless you've got a lefty or something.
Maybe try a forwarding service? I've never used an EU one but I've done it a few times for US companies that don't think the rest of the world is real. This isn't a recommendation but something like forward2me.
Thanks for the suggestions.
It's only a mudguard specifically for Cane Creek Helm forks but Cane Creek have discontinued it and no one in the UK stocks it.
Forwarding service is a good idea but expensive, I think it's time for me to get a German pen pal!
Managed to order the item from Canada for a similar price to the German shop but shipping was just £15 instead of £100+ from ther German shop.
Hopefully there won't be any additional charges!
