Pub based concept that worked better after a beer than it did on video?

Love the powerslide trick though.

Hmm. Jumped the shark I think. His earlier films were amazing scenery and tricks that actually made your jaw drop, not so much this.

Lots of fill in fluff and a bit of bike riding. Meh.

Great to see someone having fun and doing something different.

😐
Nah, I'd rather just see the skills without the theatrics.

Most of his videos I've watched multiple times. Won't be doing so this time.

Strangely, it's quite boring. The bar has been raised by Kriss Kyle, and this falls a rather short.

I could watch his videos from Edinburgh and Glasgow on repeat but this was just, well, boring.

Actually, that 'Kaleidoscope' didn't appeal to me either.

Looked like they were having a laugh, but I only made it about halfway through.

I wasn't that impressed with it but i do know an 8yr old who'll watch it on repeat till his iPad battery runs out then he'll be outside on his bike believing he's Danny MacAskill so i guess it will more than satisfy the target audience

Well made me laugh in a few bits, but the news report bit wrapped around it was painful and pointless.

it's worth watching for the tippy toes on keyboard alone! nearly spat my coffee!

newsreader might not be on a fastback to hollywood though.

Wow, you're a tough crowd. I thought it was great. Lots of humour, some creative bits and some awesome skills. What's not to love.

This has the sugary sweet stench of bored people in marketing meetings. The smell of Red Bull.

Yes, it's vaguely amusing, but that bit broke the illusion. The point is mean to be the incredible riding, and since that bit was obviously faked then it makes you wonder about the rest of it.

Me too.

I liked the slide over the table and remount the bike bit but would like to see it at full speed, not slowed down.

I think the helicopter may have been some terribly clever special effects too. 😉

They show three separate full-speed takes of it during the credits @6:45

It was obviously meant to be a bit of a laugh. Does it need to be taken so seriously?

Maybe they thought there's been a lot of videos recently showing off the riding, and decided to do one that was a bit more 'fun'.

I couldn't do the stuff they were.....

I thought it was cheesy - and good fun, powerslide was excellent!! (Oblig. Bill and Ted content).

Not the norm, but some good riding and entertaining.

Miserable bunch.
Just take it for what it is. Blokes messing around on bikes. After all that's all any of us are doing. No need for serious all the time.
I enjoyed it.

I think Danny's hair was faked too. And he was lip sync'ing. Frankly I don't think they were even riding bikes.

Why do bike vids have to be so serious? Have we all gone so far up our own bottom brackets that we've forgotten classics like the Martins 'tricks and stunts' video?

i personally think that danny's scottish videos are almost works of art - the landscapes, the filming, the music and of course the riding. almost every frame is a poster id happily put on my wall (if i still did that sort of stuff)

i suppose the question is were to take it to next and stuff like this probably draws in people that may not be coming from a 'biking angle'. its just an attempt to attract a bigger general public audience.

its not a bad thing in the grand scheme of things (as it leads to bikes) but this video is the second one I've seen to the last few days by 'hairy' bike blokes that I've thought - 'mmmh, you've done better'

People have different opinions shocker 😉

I like having fun on bikes. I like watching people doing amazing things on bikes. That bit on The Ridge where he dies a forward flip over the fence made my jaw drop.

Pretty rad riding. Kinda cool they're doing something different - I mean, they had to?

Include the rather excellent Aldo Nova (not one of my favourite tunes of his though) on sound track duties

Now that's an eighties throwback

Danny Mac is struggling for ideas there.

Think I prefer Vittorio Brumotti currently.

Nobody seems to have picked up on the fact that it's basically a promo video for the Drop and Roll tour.

Or was that so obvious that it didn't need mentioning 🙂

Total rubbish! There's no way the acoustics are that good at the Academy. The place is appalling for rock concerts. Liked the bike riding though.

No, not at all. But this film proves just how hard it is to do comedy...

No question they're all hugely talented riders. More of that and less crap acting and they'd be on a winner.

Meh, got about a minute into the actual riding, gave up.

Third rider, orange frame, Fabio someone - lower headset cup logo is on the wonk, put me straight off.

About 2.5 minutes in before we saw anyone riding.

Had almost given up by then.

Was that the one that had all the paint chipped off next to the cup? Looked like they'd smacked it in with a shovel.

I am wondering tbh. And the reason the riding's more limited is that it's all stuff they do on the tour, done with the tour kit. So frinstance he didn't do a flip off Edinburgh castle because it doesn't fit in the flightcase.

Also, Rob Halford!

Well couldn't they have at least got a model Stonehenge then?

Were we all watching the same video? Did everyone saying the riding lacked imagination *see* that knee slide? Massive thumbs up from me.

One thing I miss in Danny's videos over the original 2009 Inspired vid is the public reaction to his riding

Oh dear.

As with many things as the budget has increased and more people have become involved the videos have got worse and worse. Struggling for ideas indeed... but the thing is they don't really need ideas, just him riding his bike around is enough. The Edinburgh video he did years ago was an absolute classic and will remain so for decades to come. It's a shame.

They should maybe take a look at 411 Video Magazine for how to 'keep it real'. Great rider though.

I liked it. A bit of self-effacing humour and a good ad for the tour (which is, after all, what it's supposed to be).

This is what cracks me up about this forum , A guy releases a free to view toungue in cheek video to the masses and then gets flamed by Internet mtb superstars. At the end of the day he rides bikes and rides them well , there are only so many times you can film the same skills and make them interesting. I think people become a bit desensitized these days to videos as they have seen the same tricks before.
I doubt Danny will lose any sleep about reading he has jumped the shark from the STW Gee Athertons . I'd say the best bike video doing the rounds recently must be the Kriss Kyle BMX one.

Not the sort of the thing he should be foisting on us poah-faced evangelical puritans. Now, if he'd been riding a jones steadily round a flinty mudbath in a brown apron while thinking about how get an even MOAR obscure brand of coffee bean THEN I'd respect him.

Fun 5 minutes, why so serious? One thing DM does I don't generally bother with is his helmet cams. I like to watch helmet cams to get the sense of speed on the dh runs etc, what DM does imo doesn't translate to rider's eye view.
