[Closed] Epping Forest - where to wash my bike???

Any tips on where I can give my bike a rinse down in the vicinity of the infamously muddy Epping Forest? I don't mind paying a few squid for the privilege. Small London flats and muddy mountain bikes don't get on well at all.

Years ago a mate used to bring along a hose pipe in his car which fitted onto the outdoor tap attatched to the public toilets beside the Kings Head pub, worked a treat.

Haha, great idea - not sure I can rely on it in the long term though.

Maybe just stop at one of the garages with a jetwash on the way home.

Moved away now but spent 35 years riding there - should be mostly dry by May (mostly...).

It is, just bring a soft brush to get the dust off.

Chuck it in the Ching on your way back or take a quick dip in hollow pond ๐Ÿ™‚

River Lea?

Years ago a mate used to bring along a hose pipe in his car which fitted onto the outdoor tap attatched to the public toilets

I witnessed this only two months ago.
I haven't been over there for a week or so but it's quite dry at the moment....

Senor J and qwerty are not wrong. But it's not doing the wall any favours.

I've used a 2l pop bottle with a "sports cap" as a bike rinser before, two bottles get most of the muck off a bike I find.

Ultimately the only real solution to this is what I did for yrs before I moved, don't ride in Epping in winter wait till it's dry. Do the road or the other alternative is ride the canal (river lea).

I use a dirtworker and ride SS Epping winter time.

Just found out that Go Further Cycling have a bike wash that you can use for a quid.

I used a nomad which I would keep in the car or van also did the SS thing too but it wasn't just the bike, it was the kit as well. Some guys I knew used to drive up to high beech then just ride on the Loughton side, avoiding all the wet that flows down to bury wood and the likes.
