My current Knog Oi has died - no surprise as the design is rubbish, if pretty.
I'm after a new one, for canal/commute duties. I'd prefer something light and dinky, like the Knog (just not rubbish...). Doesn't need to be super loud or anything.
What's well made?
I got one of the Rock Brothers ones that knock off that expensive design. Not overly keen on the fact it's ripped off, but my mate at work ordered it and I wasn't aware it was that type before it arrived. It does work quite well though, also coming from an Oi! that didn't break but was shit, (far too quiet).
The Oi! is in my spares box, you can have it for postage if you want. It's the larger size.
I stuck a Crane E-NE on my cross a few weeks back. Makes a nice ding. Stealth black doesn't look too tragic. Actually been a bit of a revelation using a bell.

I found this too (Knog Oi here, not dead yet and I quite like it). People don't seem to be able to summon as much righteous fury when you scare them out of meandering all over the bridleway with a chirpy 'ding ding' 😆
The Crane E-NE looks okay. How does it attach to the bar? Secure?

The knock off versions of the Oi on Ebay are much better - all the parts are more robust, and they're only about £3. I'm happy with all mine. They're much louder too.

I use a Timber. It's quite good cos you can just leave it tinkling on a long downhill without needing to move your hands, and makes a friendly noise. But it's quiet, and sometimes you can't make it tinkle on demand, like when you're creeping up on people politely from behind.
But as long as it's bumpy it does the job.
Actually I probably wouldn't get one again.
I was very disappointed with my Oi! It only lasted a couple of rides.
I’ve just ordered a £3 knock off from eBay as suggested by munrobiker as I like the stealthy design. Fingers crossed.
The eBay ones all seem to be for 22.2-23.8mm, but I want a 31.8 fitting. GRRR.

Pedestrians defo like bells, even when calling out a cheery "hello" from way back to get their attention I got muttered "wheres your bell" comments.

Really? My knock off is shit. It fell apart once, it's prone to rattling, not very loud, and the pinger bit gets stuck. I'd assumed the genuine ones were slightly better (but had read poor reviews of those too)
Maybe someone knocked off the knock off?
I'm still looking for a bell I saw years a go.
Like a dynamo it ran off the front tyre. Cable actuated. Lever onbbara brings bell into contact with wheel. Continuous ring while incontacted with wheel. Anyone else seen this?
