Why rockshox do you not only make the screw holes for your bolt on fork mudguards M3, then proceed to supply screws with the mudguard which only protrude through the mounting holes a couple of mm, when you know the holes in a molded plastic mudguard aren't going to be precise, so the fork holes and mudguard holes aren't going to align 100%, so to get the screws in, you inevitably need to leave one loose hanging on by a couple of threads whilst starting another screw where you need to force the mudguard into position, then said force rips out the screw that was left loose taking the thread with it.

When all along the tapped holes are deep enough to accept ~3mm longer screw, that ~3mm being the difference between having a screw threaded in far enough that doesn't rip out whilst manipulating the mudguard.

Why does something that should be so easy have to be hard?

Everything was solved and much easier with longer screws.

To be fair, holes in an injection moulded component can be as accurate as you need. You’ll be giving us toolmakers a bad name 😉

Sounds like the mudguard should’ve had slots rather than holes to allow for their tolerances

I just fitted the Rockshox fender to my Zeb. You are right OP it was fiddly in the extreme with the short bolts.
