I have had a cree xml t6 1800 lumen light for a few months which is great as a helmet spot light. I have just purchased a 2x xml solarstorm but notice that the hotspot on the single xml is by far brighter.
I am wondering if i have a faulty set?
Can anyone confirm if the hotspot is less because it is more of a flood light or should it be brighter?
I have 2 ssx2's and a mate has a couple all XM-L2 and yes my single Cree T's from last year all have brighter hot spots (throw) but the x2 does have more flood
I personally prefer the flood as now I don't have hot spots dancing around as I ride
Its because of the reflector size.
Oh, and its not 1800 lumens, you'll only get around 6-700 lumens from an individual XM-L.
It's perfectly normal - the reflector on the single lamps gives a smaller, brighter spot. A lot of riders find a floodlight on the bars and a spotlight on the helmet a nice combo.
