I want to make a glow ring for the DX 'bastid' I use for commuting:
Dispite looking for a suitable bit of plastic in our recycling waste for a while now, I've not found anythign the right diameter.
Any bight (boom boom!) ideas?
Lumicycle used to do some for their lights:

Make one the right diameter ? super glue and old ice cream tub springs to mind ?
Find something a bit smaller and split it?
Buy 2 more DX lights and fit them at 90 degree angles either side.
Hi
I'm already on this for my Hope 2LED lights. I emailed Lumicycle to ask what the material is, and have just ordered some of this (from the place in the link, but a different thickness):

Acetal eh?
I've tried riveting a cone of milk carton together, but it didn't last long. I wanted to try and find a proper cylinder of plastic to push fit.
How are you going to turn a 6mm sheet into a ring?
Acetal is great for machining so Lumicycle probaly machined it out of a block. If you haven't got access to a machine shop I suggesting using some thin plastic sheet rolled up such as 0.7mm opaline Priplak (polypropylene).
edit: sorry Swalsey just read that you ordered a different thickness
What difference do you find it makes?
I havn't made it yet - I plan to shape a new faceplate from it and it *should* hugely increase side visibility. Thats the theory anyway ๐
I'd be interested to hear how you get on with it. Thanks.
ping pong ball.
ping pong ball.
Which is spherical, not cylindrical ...
