I've got a DA 52/38 chainset and I want to go to 52/36. I bought a 36T MB chainring but it doesn't go with the 52T MC I have (the pickups are different). Can I buy a 52T MB to go with the crankarms I have? I think it's a cheaper option than buying complete new chainset second hand, especially as I have 170mm cranks and most are 172.5mm on eBay (and are compacts). Thanks

I have a 52MB ring on mine with a 36t inner, and all the arms are the same so I can't see why not.

I'm more asking if the cranksarms on the 52/38 MC I have can be used with 52/36 MB chainrings if I buy them separately

Like I said. ALL the crank arms are the same, any rings will fit, just match the types for ideal shifting.
