...the Hermitage along the South side of the Brann is open again? It was closed by landslip/fallen trees after the winter.

Funny you should ask - I was going to have a wander up today to have a gander, but got distracted at Kinnoull hill instead. I've got plans to go up tomorrow, so should be able to let you know PM if all goes to plan*.
*includes retrieving bike from LBS post Alfine setup hamfistery 😕

Hmm...
IIRC it was pretty messed up and may be impassable. I hope NTS do restore it, it was a nice bit of trail.
