Basically, bought a new bike that has the DT Swiss Rims on it (one has Deore hub and the other a specialized) , but I have a pair of Mavic Crosstrails (tubeless) from the old bike and I'm undecided which wheels to use, they're all straight and true, and condition is about the same

Any suggestions? Which would you use

Steve

what you going to do with the others? Are you working out which are best to sell? The quality of the hub and bearing is as important as the rim-Ive got x430s on my HT built onto Hope hubs and they are perfectly nice wheels, but how does the 'trail hub compare to Deore? Cheap shimano (Ive had 475 which is sub-deore) hubs appear to be cast from lead and have poorly sealed bearings, but I have no experience of either deore or mavic MTB hubs.

I'd assume the crosstrails would be more desirable if you wanted to sell them, and if they are tubeless compatible possibly more use to you in the future?

I'll sell which ever pair I don't use, I'm not fussed at all which pair will make me the most money, I only need one pair and would rather keep the better pair, I'm leaning towards the mavics after reading that the DT Swiss X430 rims are easily knocked out of true,

But you know how the Internet is, people only comment on the bad things

DT have a reputation for being soft. I'm 68kg so not really in a position to comment with authority, but Ive got DT on both my HT and my FS, and the only damage Ive done was a flatspot on the rear FS rim which was understandable given the riding I was doing (very rocky, as quick as possible).

If the trails will take tubeless easily then youre "future proofed" for if/when you want to try it. Have you weighed em to see if there is a significant difference (we lost over a pound ditching the cheap 475 hubs)?
