Can someone point me in the direction of an exploded diagram or even better step by step instructions on how to strip and rebuild the above. also - do i need any special tools?
thx mattp
All available on the DT Swiss website; exploded diagrams, etc.
You will need a special tool to remove one bearing in the rear hub; it is behind the star ratchet drive thing.
ahh but my german isn't up to that level. thanks anyway.
Eh?! It's in English too...
Which hub have you got?
I couldn't find it in english but will look again tommorow. it's a 330 [spesh custom jobbie] but will be related in some way to the regular hubs i'm guessing but a bit of one up and one down with a custom bearing!!!
Depends on which type of hub you have, if it's an Onyx type then no special tools are needed for disassembly or service.

Onyx??
I think pictures are going to be needed for this one to identify the hub - other then the specialized description above. will need to look at this again tomorrow afternoon with pictures....
Onyx are the ones Trek use for their higher end Bontrager branded hubs, they come apart by unscrewing the end cap and pulling off the freehub body. Not too different inside to a Hope or similar.
I started doing this last night to an onyx rear hub. I googled 'servicing a DT swiss onyx hub" and found the right pdf manual to download straight away along with the 340 one. If yours is custom its a case of looking at the manuals and identifying it from the diagrams for something similar.
