DT swiss Ratchet Free hub

I need to order a Shimano compatible free hub for a s/h DT Swiss 240 hub - I know I need a Ratchet Freehub but can anyone confirm if the standard and EXP freehubs will both fit - from the diagrams the free hub body looks the same

I think they’re different due to the different ratchet design - two floating vs one floating - but I’m afraid I don’t know for sure. I have EXP only.

If it's the 240EXP hub, you need that single sides EXP freehub, if it's the older 240 models then it's the two ratchet freehubs you need.

I've got the older style, have both shimano types, so the older HG11 and microspline, which one are you after?

SJS have a full page of these freehubs, so check which one you're after https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/dt-swiss-hub-spares/?page=2, remember to avoid anything with LN in the title or number, LN is the freehub to turn a 370 hub into a ratchet system and do not fit 240/350 hubs.

I swapped an exp freehub (and cassette) between bikes with a 240exp and old style 350 hub for a while..

it worked fine.. (but i don't think is 'officially' supported)

It worked best if i used the freehub side of the exp internals (Ratchet, shorter conical spring, alloy spacer) with the 240exp hub..

and then when using the freehub/cassette on the 350.. use the older style internals (Ratchet, longer conical spring)

if that makes sense..

I'm also running a non-EXP microdrive body on a 240 EXP hub shell successfully (as above - not officially supported).

Good luck, they're pretty rare these days, you can get lucky on ebay or the likes, SJS have stock arriving next month as well, took me ages to get mine due to stock levels about 18 months ago.

I should definitely have a HG hub for old DT240 in the spares, want me to look it out?

The freehub body is very very similar but there's a difference in the seals, so some combinations do work but not quite right. IIRC it's something like the EXP has the seal in the freehub while the old one had it in the main shell. So possibly it's that you can put old 240 on the exp and it works but doesn't have a proper seal?
