[#11397896]

The wife has some crests on non-boost dt swiss 350 hubs with centerlock adapted 6 bolt discs. She is looking at new bikes and would like to move them over but everything is boost now.

The Internet assures me that they can't be adapted to boost spacing, but I'm struggling to see why. Surely the end caps will be the same between centrelock and non-centerlock and I can just put a spacer behind the disc with longer bolts. Or am I missing some subtlety of design? Before I buy the non-centerlock kit and try it out can anybody explain? I'm assuming that the generic ebay 3mm washer kits would work as a last resort?

Your bewildered by "standards",

S

I haven't looked into this at all but off the top of my head you'd only have about half of the splines engaged on the adaptor and you'd need a lockring with a massively deeper thread.

Looks like the Mt Zoom adapters would work for you, and wouldn't require re-dishing of the wheel either. The loose spacers are a bit of a down side, but you could glue them on to keep them in place.

When's the frame coming? 😜

I've fitted the boostinator before, works well https://www.sigmasports.com/item/Wolf-Tooth-Components/Rear-Boostinator/HSR2

It does state 240, but having run 240s and 350s and changed end caps between them i can't see an issue, if she has the adaptors, then it's just a case of putting the adaptor shim on to that and it'll be spaced out right again.

Remember you do have to redish the wheel though, it'll be 3mm off-centre, so will require that to be corrected.

When you start totting up the work, selling these and getting a new set may be cheaper in the long run!

@frogstomp it is preemptive planning on my part for when she hands me boxes of outwardly incompatible parts.....

Cheers all for the suggestions.
