Hi all,

Those in the know, please recommend a dropper post that'll fit my Trek Fuel 08. I'd like it to be shifter actuated only...

Is Rock Shox Reverb still the recognised best or is Fox now the best?

Cheers all.

Reverb has been a winner for me for the last year and a half.

Aye, same advice as always- never buy a dropper seatpost that hasn't been tested in the wild. Too many times, the first owners have been beta testing- even Rockshox did this a bit, though not as bad as some.

I'd be most interested in a Lev, but I don't know how much of that is new tech and how much is developed from the i900 and i950- important because the older posts sucked when they were new, but they developed them a lot and now they're actually pretty damn good. If the Lev builds on that, then it'll be the winner IMO. But it might not.

The answer is always, reverb as long as it's 2012.

Don't bother dropped posts add weight and are not needed.

Asda bootlace. Costs 45p for the non-remote version.
Always goes down and returns to the correct height.
No maintenance required. Very light. Extremely reliable.
Cheaper than a pack of crisps.
Doesn't look as bad as most posts.

This is the non remote version so the shifter is incorporated into the seat collar!

Awesome. For just 45p, you've manage to create something that with none of the advantages of a dropper post.

Hugor, never mind the crapness of your non-dropper post, what the blinking flip is going on with the angles of both the nose of you saddle and your hand grenade?

That always seems to offend people for some reason. That's the Selle SMP.
Unlike my dropper post its not cheap.
The hand grenade is just my rear tail light for brief road journeys linking trails in South Wales.

I quite like the saddle - I can see that snub nose being useful.

That's possible the most stupid, pointless "tip" I've ever seen.
