Since oct last year ive trained (yes trained) for 10 -15hrs a week for racing starting at the end of March.
Coming home after a ride last night when a guy pulled out of a junction without signalling. I swerved to avoid at which point he did a U turn and ploughed into me. Great.
Broken Shoulder
Broken Wrist
Great cut above the eye - stitches
Loads of cuts
Bike and kit totalled.
Police, ambulance - the works
First thing my mrs said was, can you still use the turbo trainer? Ha Ha class!

Sue to driver, replace the bike, ride off road. You might be a bit less fit but unbroken.
Good luck with your recovery!

Literally the "Flying Banana".

Bad news and home you recover quickly, I have piled in the hours since November as well on the winter bike (150 hrs +), would hate to loose all the "form" I have built up.

Anyway first RR on Sunday and will be getting a royal reeming by all the elites/Pro's so look on the bright side, no stem chewing for a bit. 🙄

Gosh, the hospital didn't take long putting you back together, fair play to them, good look with the recovery!

That sounds unpleasant, I hope he gets taken to the cleaners and you get a little recompense for all the time and effort put in and nothing gained.

TBH I was nearly taken out by 2 cyclists last night, so you can't say its just drivers - it's just road users in general. Both with no lights, swinging out of side roads without looking and then weaving all over the road and turning without signalling, blasting through pedestrian crossings between walkers and causing people to swerve.

I think we need to get away from "drivers are" arguments, there are plenty on each side.

Your missus sounds ace! 😀

There does seem to be a lot of muppets on the roads at the moment, sadly there's not much in place to stop them being crap 😕

right on there, i think we all own the road a bit as soon as we start riding, skating, bmx, street luging, oarcouring whatever. Thing is we all have eyes so why dont we use them?

I've no idea, I think that in most cases people just aren't aware of the danger and trouble they cause because most people just don't think about other people while in their own world avoiding moving objects. I'm sure we're all guilty of it at times, but some try more than others to avoid being part of it.

Street luge. Ace.

Look on the brightside, I got £4500 for a broken collarbone 5 years ago (motorbike accident) so given the extent of your injuries you're going to be looking at at least double that, plus a new bike and kit.

Keep everything that's damaged btw, plus any recipts for taxis etc
