I fancy a trip to descend Hamsterley, just wondering how technical the DH tracks are. I'm happy on eg Antur Stiniog blacks and ride the more rooty "natural" DH tracks at Wharncliffe, how does Hamsterley compare?

Looks at Descend hamsterley on Facebook. It's the uplift service and people frequently tag him in their videos. May help. I've never ridden them, but it's not my thing

You'll be fine if you can do Wharncliffe stuff.

They're not the hardest trials in the world. I rode them on a hardtail for ages when I was between big bikes. Good fun though. Definitely worth paying for the uplift as the push up is long and draining.

Good fun trails. Nothing there that you can't ride on a modern trail bike.

Thanks everyone, I think I'll try to book an uplift soon.

The main line is the only one to watch, Dh1? Some fair size drops around the rock garden, and steep a greasy towards the end.

As above, nothing that can't be ridden on a trail bike or even a hardtail if that's your thing.

Good range of difficulty between the different trails but the 1-3 dot signage system isn't particularly consistent.

The friendly bunch of riders at the top hut will point you in the right direction and tell you what to watch out for.

What condition is the 4x track currently in? I know it's no good for 4x anymore but it's one of the few places you can hit biggish jumps on a DH bike.

Just wondering, has the disrepair gone over the edge yet?

We went a few weeks ago and the 4x track was easily clearable all the way down so not too bad. As others have said there's only 1 or 2 drops that don't have a chicken line. But theyre only about 5 feet high.
Definitely get the uplift tthough couldn't imagine a worst pushup. Booking is good as well no need to do it in advance. Just text Craig and hell sort you out. We are going up in the morning.
