You wrestle a new tyre on, set it up tubeless then your mate points out it‘s on backwards. Nope.
I think after about four or five times I stopped doing this. Never say never though…
I really find it annoying, espcially when you have checked the direction, but then the tyre/wheel has ended up the other way round during the fitment pre-faffing...
My technique is to stand behind the wheel with it and the tyre oriented the correct way, then immediately put one bead on. I don't think I've ever had to remove a tubeless tyre that's the wrong way round, but have a few tubed ones, not such a faff.
May be teaching my granny to suck eggs, but tread patterns usually point forwards when viewed from above (disc on the right).
I checked it but did a magic switcheroo whilst fitting. Oh well.
I managed it with a non-directional tyre!
The trail bike has a Hans Dampf on the front that is non-directional and a Nobby Nic on the rear that is. The rear tyre is fine, the correct way round but Schwalbe put those coloured bands on their Addix tyres and they're off to one side. They are on the left of a tyre when it's on a directional one so of course I have to have the Hans Dampf the same way round. Except I mounted it the 'wrong' way round twice in a row, once dry and the second with sealant added before I spotted it. I seriously considered taking a black Sharpie to both bands but it was quicker to carry the wheel outside (live in a flat) and switch it round out there to avoid making a mess.
Yes I am aware the bands eventually wear off (still clearly visible after 160 miles) and it then wouldn't matter but seeing that band on the wrong side until that happens would really annoy me!

I built up a new Meta hardtail for my eldest today. The whole build annoyed me.
Didn’t look at the bb width because everything is 73mm right? Nope. BB back out, dug out the spacers I’d thrown in the bin.
Crank Bros seat post I had lying around turned out to be too long, and the stupid cable fitment means it’s a full inner removal to get the post out, unlike something like a Brand X.
Then I had the complete joy of feeding through the internal cables. Hateful job, from the fishing about to the daft rubber grommets.
Last one was the rear brake hose (Codes) and after fishing it through, bleeding up and finally finishing the build about two hours later I realised I hadn’t put the liner around the cable so it’ll be rattling around. Arse.
It’s not coming back out.
