you've spent the last few weeks doing different routes (a lot in reverse to normal) to find out where they go and then manage to put it all together into one very long downhill run. Some of them go nowhere or it's rubbish and some look really good..worth the effort
I've been riding the Malverns for 20 odd years and still finding ways of linking up the different routes...last night's ride was just fantastic ๐
Ooh is it a secret? Can you mail me the grid references of start/finish?
Reminds me of Swinley.. first time I went I did'nt have a clue what was what and ended up just exploring. No flow and was all over the place. Went a couple weeks ago and was so much fun following the blue and the red. It just worked!
ive spent 3 years riding trails around here ..... and still i find trails i have no idea where they go...... including in woods i used to ride through on my way to work every day.
Ooh is it a secret?
No secret LBG. You'll probably know the route anyway but I've never tried linking them up before as I didn't know where one of them goes...
Here's my route:
Start @ Clocktower carpark.
Climb zig-zags up onto North Hill/Main path
Turn right at top then follow round/down taking left turn off gravelly path
Climb up then head towards beacon taking the path round the side of the hill(sheep track)
Up over next hill then down to stone circle then up to Beacon.
Drop off the Malvern side for a bit of off-piste til you hit a proper track (about 200m) then turn left to drop into the bracken run.
Where you meet the path, turn right and traverse round the big rock. Follow this all the way down til you hit a multiple split in path (tight rooty track in front of you) and take a sharp left to cut back on yourself.
All the way down this path to the main path and go left. Bit of a climb/traverse to you get to where the bracken run comes out. Keep going round the main path. You can then do the switch-backs (great fun to race your mates down) which come out by Rosebank Gardens or carry on to St Annes Well (which is what we did)
Get to St A's and go on path on other side of the road, head down and follow the track (few short ups and downs) then hit the switchbacks/steps to come out opposite the Oriel Hotel.. BIG GRIN
Ah rightyo - yeah, I know it as 'Hitchcock'....great putting it all together including the park and steps right down to the Post Office. We normally start it at the base of Beacon - between the bottom of the Beacon flat out fast southern descent and the top of the gold run/gold mine run/rabbit run (depending on who you speak to!) there is the Singletrack that heads North on the Eastern side....drops you into the top of it ๐
Yeah, the off-piste from the beacon drops onto that track. I refer to gold run track as the 'loose as **** gravel run'..
At the end you can add in the Waitrose car-park steps before rolling to the Nags ๐
We are so lucky to have so much riding in such a small space!
indeed ๐
Those rides are great OP!
