Trying to fit a Cateye wireless computer to my road bike, where I want to put the sensor I have the bracket of an SKS Raceblade. Can I fit it lower down the fork leg ? It will hit the magnet at the same part of the rotation regardless of where it is but the manual advises it to be mounted top of the fork... Any ideas ???

As its wireless the closer to the sensor you have it the easier the signal will be picked up. But it should be fine at the bottom if you really wanted to run it down there.

Yep it's only signal strength / distance that is important. The Cateyes (stradas) have quite a good range compared to some other bike computers.

Think the newer ones quoted at 70 cm range; I had difficulties with older ones at 45 cm range if mountedd too low, especially at end battery life / cold weather
