Opening yself up to riducule here but, I am also laughing at myself. ๐Ÿ˜€

Does anyone create a spreadsheet, with all components listed, price and weight and alternatives?

Like this:

I also copy images and put them together on a kind of sample board to get a feel for what the finished product may look like, like this:

I think I am just really sad, but just wondered if anyone else was equally sad/bored at work? ๐Ÿ™‚

yep - i do that, but i also add in a column for rrp vs actual cost, with a total and cost sabving at the bottom.

the current bike on the right also shown components i'm happy with, may change, and def change.
I've also done a list weight vs actual weight for one some of my more weight bias bikes.

Nope, but I do do things like type "gold anodised" into CRC.

For weight I just rigure as long as the frame/fork/wheels/cranks are upto the job and not too heavy then the rest of the build is going to be dictated by cost with half an eye on making sure that the bits aren't silly weights.

I did dismantle and weigh every nut and bolt on my Pitch though! Then I added about 5lb to it in 'upgrades'. ๐Ÿ˜›

Not weight... but definitely cost.
