I have some XT pedals...have been through a couple sets of cleats and they are now refusing (despite the spring tension at maximum) even with not worn cleats to holt onto them!
I can pull straight out or the top of the left hand one.
Are they servicable?
didn't get multi release cleats did you?
But, no, I've never worn out any spd pedals ever
I have some 520's that are worn in the same sort of way, you can pull out of them if the cleats are fairly worn, but not in new cleats. Sounds like yours are worse though.
Are the multi release cleats the shiny silver jobbies? I don't think mine are multi release...other people have problems with my pedals aswell.
Yes!
same symptoms as your's after an 11month tour,
just buy a new pair.
I've had a pair of red DXs for about 12 years. They look like s##t but I can't kill 'em
I've also been doing a long tour on mine. They are XTR though. ****. I can't afford new uns.
But, no, I've never worn out any spd pedals ever
You have obviously never used Crank Brothers pedals then ๐
you're right, I haven't. It's one of those situations where I've learned from other peoples mistakes.
As for shimano pedals, I've got
970
515
636
545
520
all still going strong
I second the 12 year old DXs - must have been a good vintage. So no - I've never worn out a spd pedal.
I have been cycle couriering* on 540s for over a year. I've replaced cleats, but pedals are perfect, never been adjusted even.
