I have a Blur 4X which has had plenty of riding from me and the previous owner. I've changed the bearings a few times with the proper tool, following the instructions etc. The last set of bearings didn't seem to last very long though. I got some new ones and popped them in but there's still some play in the back end.

I think I did exactly the same rebuilding it this time as I've always done. I'm wondering if they eventually just wear out - maybe the bearing seats widen or something?

Higgo I'm over 15 stone and I've ridden my Blur4x since last Aug? Anyway there is zero play in any of the bearings and still going strong.

Where do you ride? That may have an effect. Some trails have gritty-sand-like fine grit that washes in and eats brake pads etc quicktime.

Have you checked the axles? do you just buy the bearings or the complete pro pack kit?

The bearings are meant to be fitted with bearing fit compound to keep them in place.

Aren't the bearings on Blur4x lifetime?

Possibly for the original owner (which I'm not) but these bearings are brand new anyway.

Hmmmm..... I had some new axles left over from a previous pro-pack that I bought because I needed one of the black bearing cover thingies. I think I used fresh axles this time - I certainly planned to. I'll check my big box of bike bits for new axles. If there are any in there, I didn't use them. In case anyone's wondering about my pitiful memory, I swapped the bearings over a few weeks ago before hols and it's only this evening I've noticed the play.

also what year is it and what shock comes on it? That bit could be telling. If its RP2/float r or worse 5th air its a very old frame with the old style bearings. You should find with these new ones that you'll be fine ๐Ÿ™‚
