Mine have finally bit the dust , can get V12 for not much more than the Welgo copies from Tredz . So are they still the go to under £40 ? It's for work / cafe spin bike hence going cheap(ish) Any other suggestions?

I went for the V6 for my jump bike. Same pedal body but in plastic. I really like them.

We've got the new V12's on my girlfriends bike and they feel really nice.

I'd say avoid, they were my favourite option but I've had V12's and V8's in the last year that have died in sub-6 months, so has a friend. Maybe we had bad luck but when the bearing kits are almost as much as another set of pedals it was a bit annoying so i went for some Superstars instead, which seem to be holding up better.

I've got three sets of the new low profile V12's on the go all approximately two years old. The paint doesn't last long but mechanically still perfect. I'd recommend.

I've had a set on my hardtail since December 2014. Doesn't get ridden as much as my other bikes but it's my 'proper' bike and my bikepacking bike so any big trip is on it. pedals are great

I’ve got two different sets of flats on my mtbs.

The best pair are the Carbon Cycles Exptic pedals. They are still looking like new after a year (they’re anodises rather than painted I think), the bearings are still smooth and they’ve held up well to rock strikes and general neglect. So grippy they can sometimes be hard to readjust your foot using 5-10’s.

My other pedals are Wellgo MG-1’s. Has these about 3 years I’d say and they are also still spinning smoothly without any damage. The paint wore off them in places quite quickly though. Shame as when they came out the box they were a pearlescent white and looked amazing. Pretty light for a cheap pedal as the body is magnesium. These are said to be less strong than the exotic pedals but going ok to far. Less grippy than the exotics, plus feel a little narrower but still awesome.

Im sure I paid £25 from a uk online shop for my mg-1’s but maybe they’ve gone up in price since then.

I must have been unlucky with my latest set! Might try them again on my new bike as i really like the shape and feel of them.
