Just had a read of a 7 year old thread on here about diy ice tyres .
and just wondered if things had moved on or any dos and dont`s have evolved since then .
not interested in buying ice tyres because doing the Puffer in Jan and it will be the only time we may need ice tyres .

some of the guys on the old thread were doing it for the puffer so hoping for feedback from them if they are still on here .

I have a set of spiked tyres you could borrow - but they're in that terribly unfashionable 26" size.

I've made my own. Old DH tyres with screws in.

Drilled the holes first then screwed them in, gorilla tape on the back then DH tubes in.

It wasn't worth the effort. The grip was insane but the weighed a tonne and it took days.

Ice spiker pros are great and for 80 quid it saves a lot of effort

I did it 25 years ago, used screws. It took forever and wasn't worth it. As noted, the grip is insane

I made one years ago, twas heavy. Very.

I've done an icy puffer on Ardents, just pick your line wisely and you'll be reet.
