Hi
complete novice here,so be kind....
Took the bike out for a spin yesterday and the back brakes were running sweet as can be. Just a slight touch on the brake lever and the bike comes to a halt.
I washed the bike down as normal, but today the back brakes are not the same. Its taking a great deal more pressure on the brake leaver to get the brakes to stop the bike and the brake doesn’t work nowhere near as good as it was yesterday.
Any ideas what could be causing this, or what I can do?
Tektro Auriga hydraulic disc brakes BTW
you may have accidentaly sprayed some oil or that on the disc. Try giving it a clean with disc brake cleaner or just soap and water might do the trick.
yep - sounds like you got some lube on the discs. happened to me a few times, normally i go out and brake hard a few times and it sorts itself out.
although if the pads have been affected then you may need new ones as some lube can corrupt pads.
and yeah - disc brake cleaner may be a good idea, i use fenwicks (off chainreaction cycles) and its good stuff.
Thanks Both.I hosed the bike down and used a damp cloth to remove the water.I didn't appear to go near the disks with any lube when doing the chain after, though.
I'll try the hard braking and get some cleaner. Thanks again
