I've sold a brake to someone on these forums: a shimano 160mm rear IS caliper used as a front (so should fit a 180mm disc) with a Hope +20mm IS to IS adaptor and a 203mm rotor. Problem is that the caliper just rubs on the oustide of the disc.
I seem to remember having a slotted adaptor in the past which would allow a small amount of adjustment, anyone know where I can get one from?
Any other solutions: a 200mm rotor??

Is it a post mount cailper? I think all shimano ones, except for XTR, are. If so you can just put a washer or two in there to space the caliper out a little.
A slotted adapter is only a few strokes with a file away.
Used a 203mm rotor with a 200 mm caliper for ages using a 1.5mm washer between adapto and caliper. Worked just fine. On shimano brakes
the old black A2Z +20mm adaptors are slotted, they actualy have engraved on them 160 - 180/185mm adaptor
I have a couple (both in use I'm afraid) but they should still be around somewhere...
I had this problem when fitting M4 IS mount brakes to one of my frames. The Hope floating rotor rubbed ever so slightly and there was nowhere to fit shims. I cured it by holding an old oilstone on the outside of the rotor and rotating the wheel. Took a wee while but it runs fine now. Don't suppose this would work too well with saw or wavy rotors though!
one of these in fact...
close up shows the bit im talking about too ๐
Thanks everyone. It is an IS caliper mounted to an IS fork so can't use washers. Either the A2Z adaptor or a bit of filing to make a slot on the adaptor should be fine.
