Decision time for the 'changy bits' for the new HT build...do i stick with Shimano mechs and Sram 'twistys' or go the whole Sram route?

Been riding XT mechs and SRAM 'twisties' on an O5 for some years now without a problem.

Is Sram as hard wearing as Shimy stuff now, like for like price wise or has Shimy still got the edge for long term use?

Cheers guys.

I dont know anyone who runs bikes with one of each to compare ...waits herds of lurkers to prove me wrong. Both seem reliable I guess it is just personal prefernce I like the clunkiness of sram but there is a difference in shifters between x9 and x0 that is noticable [ I have only just ridden my x0 bike after months in x9 and it is noticeable though I claimed there was little difference recently sorry hive mind]
I dont know if xt to xtr is the same as you can do an internal thingy to xt to make them perform like xtr in terms of number of shiftsiirc

Good question...

Bike 1 has SRAM X9 and bike 2 has SLX/XT. I've come to like both setups for very different reasons and wouldn't want to pick between the two.

You should remember that for a budget of £100 you're not going to get X9s and IMHO X5 or even X7 doesn't feel anything like as nice. For the money it's very hard to find an argument against SLX.

I also would not drop below X9 I have X0 rear mechs.
Buying new @ that budget will be some sort of Shimano stuff and I cant help beyond that
