Can anyone recommend Anquet? They're currently running a 50% discount, which means whole GB for £82.50. Seems a bargain!
I'm currently using Memory Map 2004 but don't have Scotland and whilst I love most of it MM, that is), I find the import/export/saving/organising of routes and tracks very limited (I'd like to be able to organise them into directories etc.). I've downloaded the trial version but you can only tell so much until you actually use it in anger. Comments from existing users would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.
I use Anquet. The software used to be quite buggy, but now the latest version is much more stable - although not perfect. I've not used Memory Map or any other software and chose Anquet because you could buy as much or as little of the maps as you wanted - although I believe that you can do that with MM now.
Anquet allows you to save tracks/routes in 'databases' and you can organise these (as many or as few) as you like.
If you want answers to any more specific questions, just ask.

I find 'Quo' is good. You can get 1:25K as well as 1:50. I think you can get a trial version if you want a go. http://www.mapyx.com/
1:50 is pretty cheap I think, 1:25 works out pricey if you want big areas, but is good for MTB. Support has been really good - I mean really!
You can create directories in MM. In the Overlay Properties pane just <right click> on the left handside and select <New Category>
I'm a long-term Anquet user. I've seen/tried some of the alternatives, but their route handling/storage/manipulation is nowhere near as powerful. I've found support (on the few occasions I've needed it) to be excellent too.
I have the whole UK at 1:50K and have used the on-line ordering system to buy small chunks of 1:25K as I've needed it.
GPS support has been excellent. I currently use a Geko 301 for walking and an Edge 705 for cycling.
It also has a mobile version (free with the rations) but that only works on certain (older) smartphones and Windows PDAs. It's "OK" and is a full mobile application, not just like the one that comes with Quo.
Any questions, feel free to ask.
I use it and find it great. I prefer it over MM (but that may be because I'm used to Anquet).
Bargain price.
