Help!? I have a DHX 5.0 air shock with the piggy back ProPedal chamber.
The shock it's self is in a pig of a position on my slayer sxc,
I will have to remove the shock from the frame to add air to the ProPedal chamber.

The question.
Can anyone recommend the psi level I will need for a firm ProPedal when it is in the max setting?
My weight is 13 stone (approx) with all bike bag and paraphernalia or 182.lb or 82.5kg.

I only ask as the thing is not easy to adjust on the trail as it needs to be fully removed.

any help will be appreciated. Matt

Suspension design has such an influence on how a shock works, that unless there's somebody else out there on the same bike at a similar weight you may not get much response.

My Nicolai has four shock mount holes for different travel; each hole changes the leverage ratio on the suspension design, meaning that to get the shock working how I want/like I have to fanny around with air pressures, firstly in the main chamber then the boost valve chamber, then play around with the damping and pro-pedal dials. Its not quick but with experience it gets easy.

My advice is if you've got the right sag, as dictated by the bike manufacturer, pump the boost valve up to somewhere in the middle of the 75-200psi range, and with the pro-pedal dial all the way out see how that is. Then when out on the trail wind the dial in a couple of clicks ata time until you get something like what you want. If you find on this ride that it still isn't damped enough, when you get home add another 15-20psi and start again.

No quick fix I'm afraid.

Bottom out fully open, 150 psi in boost valve chamber/piggy back.

The DHX air benefits from tuning (Mojo) TF don't touch them from memory?!

Another good fix is to remove the extra volume air sleeve from the air can (when the airs been let out!!!) and pack with grease to reduce the air volume and increase the ramp up/progressiveness of the air spring curve so the shock sits higher in it's travel.

Ran one on my patriot for a bit tuned the shim stack and fiddled alot swapped for a float R which was loads better, swapped for a dhx coil tuned it again and that was THE one.

oh rebound will effect (affect?) how it pedals too! Think I was running about 200psi in main chamber (after can packed with grease) NOT the white lithium stuff I might add (err!) Rebound was 1 or 2 click off full slow.
