[#1211013]

Looking for a fitting/Bracket that I can screw down to a piece of wood/metal and lay across the floor of my people carrier, allowing the bike to stand vertical without falling over. I have tried just putting the forks on the carpet and holding bike up down with bungees but the bars spin etc and bike generally moves around.

Needs to work with 15QR forks.

May be able to make something for you with some 20mm conduit and angle-iron, probably take a day or two to dig out the bits needed. Will need painting by yourself, and prob cost a couple of quid postage, let me know if you want me to give it a go.

Coatesy - that sounds ace Cheers.

Can I be so rude to suggest that it isnt too high and has a rectangular base I can screw to a plank or a piece of metal - say about 4" * 2" base.

Let me know how you get on and postage - email in profile.

Im chuffed with this - made my day... ๐Ÿ™‚

Anybody made a DIY 20mm version of exactly the same?
Or could explain how to make one?

Essentially it's going to be a steel tube with an internal diameter that the axle will slide snugly through, same width as the dropouts, welded to a section of angle-iron that you can bolt down onto a base in your chosen vehicle.
Find your local metal stockist and have a rummage through their offcuts for something suitable, cut and file to shape, take to a car bodyshop/garage/fabricator and get it welded.Drill to suit, prime and paint.Job done.

bit of wood that you drop a 15mm drill bit through and then screw to whatever you like?

Thinking about it two smaler bits of wood that you drill out and then screw down in the right places after fitting to the fork (the first time that is)

Pendle do a 15mm QR holder for thei roof rack, I use one and it's braw - don't know how close you are to them, but they might be able to sell the holder part to you so you can made the mod to fit it to an internal holder (or ask them to make the modification so instead of lengthways the adapter sits width ways and becomes an internal carrier?)

I've got the internal piece of their kit as a 'spare' but it got damaged during delivery so the 15mm axle doesn't fit through - the very end of it was squashed slightly so it got replaced.

I'd suggest giving Pendle a ring and see if they can do something? Won't be as cheap as DIY but might be easier to get.

Is a toilet roll holder wide enough? That would be nice and easy.

I had a look at the 15QR collar again this morning - the clamp can also take a 20mm collar so could be interchanged, so you might only need to contact Pendle for the 15QR collar piece if you can find a suitable 20mm clamp (which are more readily available than the 15QR setup).

Spoke to pendle, 10 quid plus 1.50 postage. Bargain.

I still like the home brew "make a 15mm hole in a bit of wood and insert the 15mm axle through it, thereby clamping the fork in place" option.

I'm going back to me shed.
