Morning dudes,
I am looking at purchasing a 160mm travel frame in the next week or so. I was all set on the Orange Alpine 160, then last night i stumbled upon a website selling Devinci Hectic 2 frames, they look good quality and the deal is good aswell.
Has anybody here got one or ridden one or even heard of them? Any views/opinions would be greatly appreciated and any pics of built bikes aswell. Not much on Internet about them, so anything you have id be glad to hear inc buikt bike weights.
Thanks,
Mike.
Freeborn are the UK importers of Devinci. Paul the owner uses one as his everday bike and James who also works there ran for over a year as his before swapping it for the next model up in terms of travel. Both have said they love them and I know they've not thad any issues at all.
I rode James' bike a few times and thought it was excellent, especially consdiering the deal you could get on them.
They're a Horst link bike so they work and feel quite different to the Orange Alpine. I personally prefer the way the Devinci goes about it's job but I wouldn't say it was better than the Orange Alpine on purely functional terms apart from the fact that the Devinci was better behaved when braking down steep, rough sections.
I know the Freeborn guys very well and I am pretty sure they haven't had a single Hectic back with issues.
The best thing though is the value. £1200 for the frame is increadible and you could get a 36 Talas for £550 with it!
Little bit different but I have a Devinci Ollie, can honestly say its the best manufactured frame I've ever had, lots of attention to detail. oh and rides very well 🙂
Thanks for the input guys, it does look like a great deal and the frame looks excellent quality and the whole package looks good value. Did manage to find a review and somebody said it had a flexy back end. Nobody else agreed tho!
Did u get an idea of the weight when u rode it? Not that it is a major issue as the Alpine is around 32lbs built up.
I have emailed them so awaiting a reply, im hoping they can fit a red headset instead of the black, and a red bb as im a big bike tart! 😉
