No matter what you think the fact is that for kids owing their masses, the weight of the bike is going to be a real issue. That and tailoring the route so that it fits your kid.

My son (8) has a big hit grom, pretty heavy bike, but I find tailoring routes pretty easy really. I look here:

As people keep pointing out, the FS will not be the only bike a kid is likely to have. It will be a second bike for gravity type stuff.

Like the look of that Early rider wonder how heavy it is?

Claimed weight 5.8kg which is lighter than the equivalent Islabike but no front brake and the belt drive should save a chunk.

And decent level 'hucking' bikes for kids are nothing new:

My son's bike at an Innerleithen uplift, in 2007 - and it still fits him in 2012.
