Decent affordable riding jerseys?

[#13535259]

I'm in need of some new riding gear, looking for some riding tops that don't cost the earth. I just want a regular fit (not a tight xc/roadie fit!), decent length in the body & back and wicking/fast drying so it doesn't get clammy and heavy. I have a few Decathlon Kiprun tech t's that are ok, but being made for running they come up a bit short and the sleeves and back are a little tight when you're on a bike.

Wouldn't mind trying something merino as sometimes the meshy texture of polyester can chafe, also poly can get a bit smelly!

Have a look at the Rivelo stuff on Sportpursuit.

I've found the Decathlon Van Rysel cycling kit very good value, good bike cut, and comfortable as well. I have a roadie top that is comfie and i wear it on the MTB and road bike

Took a punt on this discounted Merlin top:

And was actually rather impressed so bought another. Nice material, understated merlin logos, grippy waist band, not too baggy/tight (bought small with 38" chest).

They do a royal blue one too, equally discounted

I really like the Jerseys by Setup Apparel.

Way better value than most mtb brands and interesting/different designs.

Medium Endura Extract yellow jersey under £10 on Amazon, I bought one end Feb and all good so far, was concerned my big belly might be too big but it's a decent relaxed fit.

Second the Setup jerseys. Bought a couple and they have lasted really well. Good choice as well.

What's the fit like on these, are they long enough in the body to not ride up when you're riding? I like their designs, prefer this to the moto/enduro pyjama look!

oneal element MX tops -

they do a range of garish nes but plain black is cheapest and cheapest. best biking tops i own - by a mile.  i`ve long arms and long body and these fit me properly. Most other tops i look like i`m wearing a 3/4 arm top or are really short and ride up.

Fox tech tees are also really nice and not sweaty but can be pricey.

Loads of different brands on Sport Pursuit at the moment, I’d be having a look there

I had some t shirts (not jerseys) from them. One started to fall apart and the support person told me 18 months was a decent life from a t shirt, I probably wore it once or twice a month at most.

I’ve just got two Kentmere tops from Sport Pursuit, and they seem like a very good job. Good fit, well featured and well made, and anti-pong technology. And very well priced.

+4 for Setup. I have a few and they are great. Wick well, nicely made, and you can pull the sleeves up on the LS unlike some (Fox Ranger for one). I'm a trail giraffe and find the sizing spot on, wear an L like in most things and length is perfect

Sorry, only realised after I posted the link that I was wrong about the stock! I blame dark mode on my phone 🤦

Startfitness used to be the Scott outlet but they don’t seem to be anymore. Anybody know where you can get Scott stuff at the massive discounts Start used to do ?

I've had a few slightly baggier short sleeved mtb tops from aliexpress. They seem fairly well made and decently breathable. Maybe not quite as soft as my madison jerseys, but not as stiff as the discounted scott jersey I have. wasn't expecting greatness, but seem OK.

You could try an ice hockey jersey.

very baggy on the forearms (room for elbow pads), but may catch on the bars.

Vaude, Scott, Alpkit and Pearl Izumi are the tops I've got. All in sales.

The Alpkit is thicker merino and a cosy thing it is, ideal out of season. But I'm not sure I would buy from Alpkit again after the latest shenanigans...

Decathlon merino is nice stuff. It's not cycling specific though. It's in the general outdoors / hiking section.

For cycling specific: another vote for Vinted.

Have a look at the Rivelo stuff on Sportpursuit.

This I really like their Rivelo stuff although not keen on their latest road/gravel colours

I really like Rapha Windblock merino stuff. Again on Sportspursuit or Rapha in sales can be had for £40 ish which is vfm
