[Closed] Decathlon sealant: what on earth have I just put in my tyres?

I bought some tyre sealant from Decathlon to try after it was mentioned briefly in a thread last month. I finally got round to trying it today.

It's blue! And thick and gooey! I definitely was not expecting that, I assumed it was the normal white thin stuff in a blue bottle, but no, the bottle is actually clear.

I put it in anyway; will I die in a horrible blue explosion of goo? Does it just set to become like those foam rubber tyres of yore?

I spilled a bit on the garage floor. I'm expecting it to be like killer expanding foam in that the next time I try to go in there it will have filled the garage in a rock solid blue blob. Next week, the village; the country before the month is out...

Isn't the Schwalbe and Bontrager stuff blue goo?

Which is? Unexciting functional blue gunk or evil destroyer of worlds?

I'm less scared knowing that there are other sealants that are also blue and gloopy. But not not scared enough to go back in the garage yet...

Sounds like the Fenwicks stuff. Got it (Fenwicks) in my road tyres and haven't been assimilated yet...

Too thick to coat the tyre?

Sounds like Bontrager super juice. Worked fine for me, didn't dry out as quick as Stans and didn't turn into alien lumps after 3 months in a tyre.

That. But blue.

Hmmm. Which particular black stuff from the X-Files? A grey goo type scenario is one thing, but if there are going to be little black worms intent on crawling into whatever orifices they can find (why do they always do that? How do they know?) then I suddenly see why some people don't like tubeless tyres!

The tyre seems to be holding pressure although I haven't ridden it yet. The stans stuff that was in it previously slowly lost pressure over a few days, so it seems to be working.

In fact... is that how it works? It's like those tubeless anchovies, but repurposed sentient evil beings from space so they are self applying in case of holes?

Holy thread resurrection Batman,I've just put this inone of my tyres.I had sealed it with some cheap stuff from On-one as an experiment, and it was ok,but got a thorn last week, and it has leaked sealant nonstop since.I've put about 250 mls in over the week, and there was 20mls still in the tyre this morning, the rest was on the shed floor ๐Ÿ˜ˆ I put 100 mls of the Decathlon stuff in,and the pressure has held steady at 33 psi for 6 hours, with no visible leakage. It looks odd when you're used to Stan's etc,but it appears to have sealed this hole right off.I'm taking it for a ride tomorrow,so we'll see what it does then.
